This past Friday was Day 40 of So Purkh for me. In honor of this day I hosted a short ceremony to honour the masculine. It was small, intimate and a lot of fun! I opened it up to friends and friends of friends and it was hosted in a friends beautiful living room.
I brought the crystal I’ve been putting all my prayers into, a shiva lingam cut quartz, for all the participants to put their prayers into it. We had raspberries, chocolate, and chai for the ceremony, and I brought Organic milk to pour onto the crystal. We chanted, or more particularly, I chanted because I forgot to print mantra sheets for the participants.
This is the breakdown of the ceremony we did, in case you would like to do one for yourself one day!
Ceremony
First we made organic vegan chai to serve everyone before, during and after. It was really easy. I bought almond milk and a chai mix that was on sale. My friend added some herbs to it, and it was amazing. We drank a giant pot, the whole four of us!
I brought chocolate and raspberries as offerings and organic milk. The chocolate and raspberries sat on the altar during our chanting and we shared them afterwards with gratitude and love. I discovered Shiva likes raspberries.
The organic milk was placed beside the altar with an empty bowl as the centerpiece of our little altar space. The organic milk was poured on the crystal in honour of Shiva and masculine energy. This is something I’ve been taught is done in temples in India. There was not a proper setting for the Shiva Lingam Crystal when I received it, so I used a bowl to hold the milk. The milk was poured with honour and gratitude into the garden of the house hosting the ceremony with the remainder staying at the hosts home for use.
We opened with a prayer one of the participants wished to share and chanted So Purkh together beautifully. As each participant took the crystal and gave their prayers to it my body shivered and received chills each time. The power is real.
Next time I would make sure I print out mantra sheets and I would play the English Version before we chant. And take pictures so I can blog about it more effectively because I took zero pictures!
I’m so glad I hosted this ceremony!! It was a lot of fun. 🙂
Things So Purkh Has Taught Me
This round of So Purkh has taught me I have something major I’m working through slowly but surely. I don’t know what it is but I have a lot of resistance to it, and I’m noticing the resistance off and on in my meditation practice.
I have trouble with being intimate with myself and others. Intimacy = Into Me I See. I can’t see into myself hence my resistance at this moment in time. I will though soon.
I have seen the way my PTSD affects my life still today. It’s much more than I would like and I am actively working on shifting this right now via hypnotherapy.
As you know, I have also witnessed the pattern of being attracted to emotionally or physically unavailable men which was insightful for me.
And I am continuing for at least 120 days as per my instructions received on day 40. 🙂
