I almost hesitate to write about the Chakra System. Do I really have more value to add to something already written about so much on the interwebs? I don’t know. But I know that I keep referring to them and instead of referring you out to an outside source I may as well have an internal page!
So here is A Kundalini Yogini View Series on the Chakra System!
“Men of great knowledge actually found out about all these chakras — their workings, their petals, their sounds, their infinity, their co-relationship, their powers. They found out what the chakras were. And, they found out that the life of a human is totally based on these chakras. They developed it into a whole science. This total science gave birth to Kundalini Yoga. That is how Kundalini Yoga was born.”
–Yogi Bhajan
We will begin with the Third Chakra. This is the chakra that Guru Raj Kaur in class told us to focus on healing first. Healing everywhere else occurs through this point.

Why is this Chakra Important?
If the above hasn’t convinced you already, then read my previous blog post on the Navel Point which is tied to this chakra.
This is the chakra that contains the “will of the spiritual warrior” as Yogi Bhajan says. And indeed this chakra does do that. As I’ve practised more and more speaking my truth, each time I courageously speak my truth when I otherwise wouldn’t have, I feel a flash of heat inside the solar plexus.
This flash of heat confirms to me that there is a power issue that is working itself out or an issue of the will. When I have done heavy manifestation work at times I’ve also felt the flash of heat in my solar plexus as I decree my will. The more my will goes into the decree, the more that my solar heats up, the stronger the reaction from the energies around me to produce what I intend to create.
It is said that a person with a strong third chakra will know what they want in their life. They are able to visualize it and commit to doing what it takes to make it happen. They have a high level of confidence and are not afraid of doing.
This person will be expressive and exuberant. They have unlocked the key of using their emotions to fuel their passions and actions. Your intentions create actions and stir the manifesting energies of the Universe.
When a person has a weak solar plexus they may use a lot of stimulants, drugs or food to create more energy and to eat their feelings. There is a lot of energy stored here from anger, blame, resentment, or un-acted ambition. When you feel that you don’t have the right to express your feelings you start to build up energy in the navel point, eventually leading to action of some sort (often at random and without focus, think random outburst of anger).
This person will have many good intentions and ideas but they don’t come into fruition.
This is the chakra that is responsible for tying up the loose ends of the bottom two chakras, creating the tip of the pyramid of the bottom three chakras that leads into the heart chakra, where consciousness expands from.
It is also said that the ego resides in the Solar Plexus.

Yogi Bhajan’s Words on This Chakra
Wheels of Life: A User’s Guide to the Chakra System by Anodea Judith <— By far the best reference book I’ve encountered on the Chakra system
Fate and timing are funny, little things. I know virtually nothing about chakras but I do know, for some reason, that I am thirsty to learn about them and how to embrace and understand their role and how to incorporate them into my day to day/best life.
I’m a picky reader (like most, I suppose). I’d scrolled the blogs that popped up in my search, and you had me at the first sentence. I admire the humbleness you mentioned of putting more info out there but even more, I applaud your go of putting the info out there that you feel like you can contribute, with integrity. Hard to find the good ones via google these days 😉
Thanks for the ka-nowledge. Excited to learn more. Feel free to point me in any incredible directions. I’ve been into yoga for some years now but am looking to take a crack at meditation and energy (should that help).
Cheers,
Shonna
Hi Shonna,
Thanks for reading and your comment of appreciation. I would recommend “Transitions to a Heart Centered World: Through the Kundalini Yoga and Meditations of Yogi Bhajan” which you can see here in my amazon store: http://astore.amazon.ca/spirtime-20?_encoding=UTF8&node=4
I would recommend though that you pick it up at a local Kundalini Yoga studio. It’s a book that teaches you yoga sets, meditation, and has tidbits about energy and how it flows and works.
Inside that store you’ll also see my recommended reads for energy work as well. Books by Carolyne Myss are great for starters because her language is perfect for the layman and its not super dry which is a huge plus. Wheels of Life by Judith Anodea I think is one of the go-to books I have for the chakra system that will teach you everything you need to know and have meditations for each Chakra.
Meditation and Energy Work are both huge fields of study. The info I give you here is from a Mystics and Kundalini view of the world.
I’m going to be running on my business website (www.willowslavender.com) a 30 day intuitive challenge in a few months that will have basic energy work explained in it.
Let me know if your interested and I’ll send you an email when I start it!
Feel free to email if you have any questions/want to chat,
Serafina
Thank you, thank you. I appreciate the loaded feedback and recommendations. I will most definitely take you up on your offer for q’s & chatting as I dive in. Exciting stuff. Take good care & sincerely, thanks again.
